Bring real-world Scottish business into the Higher Business classroom
The Introduction to Small Businesses in Scotland teaching pack has been developed by Scottish EDGE to help educators connect key areas of Higher Business learning with practical, real-life examples from Scotland’s entrepreneurial community.
Across five ready-to-use lessons, learners explore what it takes to start, grow and work within a small business. Using real Scottish businesses, entrepreneur stories, video content and classroom activities, the pack encourages students to apply business theory to authentic situations and develop their analytical, evaluative and decision-making skills.
Topics covered include investment readiness, competitive advantage, brand purpose, business growth, SWOT analysis, employability, entrepreneurship and the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in Scotland. The resources also give learners an opportunity to consider entrepreneurship and employment within an SME as potential career pathways.
