Case Study - IndiNature

In Round 11 of Scottish EDGE, we supported IndiNature with £98,000 to develop a natural alternative to rigid insulation with an insulating block made from hemp, later revising the approach to focus on flexible fibre insulation made from hemp and flax as an alternative to replace mineral wools in roofs, floors and walls for retrofit or new builds.

The initial seed funding from EDGE prompted follow-on funding from other organisations including The Scottish National Investment Bank, Zero Waste Scotland, South of Scotland Enterprise and others including individual private investors.

In this Royal Bank of Scotland Business supported case study, we caught up with co-founder Scott Simpson to hear how the business has now just set up in a 40,000 square-foot factory in Jedburgh, and is engaged with significant customers including residential and commercial builders and developers, with additional licensing interest from other countries including Canada.
